Destin Florida and Crab Island Like Never Before After COVID-19 Restrictions Are Lifted
Grab your sunblock, swimsuits, and face masks…the beaches are open and so is Crab Island!
Destin locals are relieved to finally get their beautiful white sandy beaches back after the recent decision made by Okaloosa County Commissioners Tuesday April 28th to reopen the beaches and allow Crab Island Vendors to continue working.
Now seems to be the best time for a vacation to the Emerald Coast! Prices on boating sports, Airbnb’s, and restaurants are lower than ever! Not to mention the fact that traffic is nonexistent, there is plenty of room on the beaches, and gas is crazy cheap! It’s like taking a time machine to Destin in the 90s, before everyone learned of the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village. “I’ve never seen families catch so many fish on a charter before!” bragged a captain on the Harbor Walk Wednesday. Many also agreed, the massive decrease of fishing charters in the area due to Corona has definitely made a noticeable impact on the amount of fish caught in the area. Dolphins seemed to have noticed too and have been playing in the decluttered waterways even more than usual!
Private boat charters have replaced the usual crowded beaches and families are loving the intimate quality time they are getting with one another. Vacations have also started to become more about relaxing again. Instead of spending the day shopping, families are spending more time enjoying the gorgeous nature of the area. Activities like snorkeling and kayaking have quickly become top picks!
Time to trade in your face masks for some snorkel gear and enjoy Destin like it’s 1999!
